The following is the order the Sealy Police Department prefers to receive your information. This order may differ in other jurisdictions or agencies.

            1. Type of crime

            2. Location of crime

            3. Crime in progress or when it occurred

            4. Description of vehicle

            5. Description of suspect

            6. Is the suspect armed?

            7. Direction of travel

            8. Give your name, address, and phone number

Can I call 911 if I don’t speak English?

Yes, 911 can use language line services. Please be patient while you are connected to one.

What should I do if I call 911 by mistake?

Stay on the phone and explain to the dispatcher it was a mistake. If you hang up they will have to call you back which will consume even more time. Sometimes officers are still required to go to your home to assure everything is alright. They may ask for your identification so they can complete a call log that shows who they talked to and whether there was an emergency or not.

How do I get a copy of a police or crash report?

To obtain a copy of a police report you need to submit a Public Information Request (P.I.R.) to city hall.

You may use the following form: PIR Form

Protective Orders differ from Criminal Trespass Warnings. A protective order is issued by the courts and is sometimes referred to as a restraining order. To obtain one you must contact the District Attorney’s Office at (979) 865-5911. They can explain the application criteria and process.

You may call dispatch at (979) 885-3330.

Why did it take so long for the officer to arrive after I called them?
