National Night Out (NNO) is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). Across the country this event is held in August but due to the hot summer heat in Texas, Sealy (and most Texas agencies) host this event in October.

NNO is designed to bring citizens, law enforcement agencies, EMS and Fire Department personnel, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials together for one fun-filled evening. NNO heightens crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and sends a clear message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Last year SPD organized a large block party at Levine Park. Hundreds attended to see the latest and greatest our agency has to offer. There were armored SWAT vehicles, FBI fingerprinting courses, a rock climbing wall, FD programs and more! Our main goal in hosting this event is to allow our citizens to visit with officials and inform them of any concerns they have in their neighborhoods that need addressing. NNO allows citizens to promote ideas to better the community and gives law enforcement the opportunity to meet with them and describe current crime trends and what to be aware of.

NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program. Last year it didn’t cost the tax payer anything. It was completely sponsored by our outstanding local businesses. NNO promotes neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and is a perfect venue for citizens and officials to have stress-free, face to face interaction about our community. Thank you to everyone who participates in the program and we look forward to seeing you this year too!
